The Edcamp Vision
In 2019 we launched the 3-year Edcamp project in Armenia. Our goal was to build an environment that leverages the knowledge and experiences of education stakeholders to think and act together. We aimed at bridging teachers, school leaders, policymakers, researchers, and parents.
We started by launching the Edcamp conference-Armenia's first conference for educators. A free public event, Edcamp grew from 450 participants in 2019 to 5,000 participants in 2020. Edcamp allowed participants to collaboratively determine session topics and attend sessions that best meet their needs.
In 2021 we launched the "Community Edcamp" project. It provided mentoring to three self-organized teams across the country to set up Edcamps around community-level education issues. One of the teams even received the "best school initiative" award from the Ministry of Education.
Starting in 2022, we give every local team the open knowledge to organize their Edcamps and build or expand local communities of practice.
